This trail is also popular with hikers.

Parking for the Balsam Forebay can be crowded but there is plenty of parking across the street. Follow the main dirt road to the left around the gate. You'll see Balsam Forebay to your right as you circle around.

The road has a few forks but has directional signs to stay on the trail. At about two miles there is a short singletrack to the left of the road. It returns to the road then another singletrack to the left takes you to the viewpoint. The only technical section is a short scramble up the granite to the viewpoint.
