Description

This route begins at Carson Middle School where there is plenty of parking. The first two miles are paved but will get your heart pumping as you ascend to the top of Kings Canyon Road.

The fire road begins with somewhat avoidable loose rocks and continues until the connector with Ash Canyon to Kings Canyon Trail. After that point, the trail smooths out into a standard doubletrack with some sandy sections. There are about nine stream crossings which can be navigated on the bike and three sections which are somewhat steep for beginners which may need to hike-a-bike.

The views of Carson City and Douglas County continue to get better and better as you ascend to Spooner Summit. The Tahoe Rim Ride base camp can be seen in the last mile of the ride.
