Description
Double R trail was completed in June of 2020 through volunteer efforts. Double R Trail represents a trail that has a strong focus on tight turns that reward great bike handling. It has some optional lines that reward speed and combo-ing of natural features.
If you want/need a challenging climb Follow the downhill until you reach the lowest elevation on the trail by not turning right at the first intersection. If you wish to skip this technical climb you can turn right at the first intersection and use a small connector to access the upper parts of the western most part of the lower stacked loop. The directions will continue after describing the route for those that chose the technical climb. For those that want the technical climb good for you it builds character. This climb will likely make you walk your bike unless you have excellent stamina and great bike handling skills. There are A and B lines once you reach the hardest rock garden. Please do not modify the trail to make it easier. Whether you do the technical climb or use the connector to bypass it you'll reach the western most part of the lower stacked loop. To finish keep climbing by staying right and then when you reach the intersection with Double R, stay left and climb out past a large built up log over with a gap cut in it to the intersection with
Log Trail (White) and make a right. Climb
Log Trail (White) and make a left at the first intersection. When you reach the top of the mountain and before you start descending towards the power line, be on the lookout for an un-blazed optional downhill on Log on your left that has several (optional) natural rock drops and a steep grade.
After descending this section of Log, make a quick left onto a flat wide old woods road, then after only 100 yards or so make a quick right to connect back to double R trail. You'll reach the same trail you climbed out of earlier on Double R. Stay left to descend this feature-filled trail. Look for extra credit lines over rocks. Trust the berms and earthwork to maintain flow and speed. At the bottom, make the left to climb back out of double R trail, but about 3/4 of the way up the climb look for the easier reroute on the left to finish your climb, both the reroute and steeper section you initially descended will bring you to the intersection of log trail. From this point I would suggest riding log counter clockwise for more flow.
