Dogs Leashed
Family Friendly
The convenient location, easy terrain, the proximity to the zoo, the opportunity to explore the forest and wildlife, and the creek running through all make the trail suitable for family outings.
Open year round.
Need to Know
The trail is currently overgrown, but it will be resurfaced and a new bridge on the creek will be built. I proposed this route to be included in the new detailed plan for the Borisova Garden park in 2018 and it was accepted.
Description
The terrain is practically flat overall. The route is almost straight. With the construction of the new wide bridge that I proposed, the route will become even more direct and convenient.
The trail connects the busy neighborhood of Lozenets (and the nearby subway station, the National Nature and Maths High School, etc) with the Sofia zoo and the adjacent sections of Vitosha and Dianabad districts, thus providing a viable alternative to car use.
Coming from the zoo, the trail begins conveniently at the north edge of the parking lot and the east zoo entrance. After some 50 m of meadow, you enter into the woods and continue north. North of the creek, one can turn left towards Tokuda hospital or continue north along this trail toward Lozenets district. There is a comfortable underpass under the Vaptsarov Blvd. fitted with an auxiliary elevator.
