Overview
A great way to get a challenging 8-mile ride in when under time constraints. This loop also avoids the extended creek sections found in the full loop that can get very challenging after it rains. The loop can be ridden in either direction. Clockwise is better for those who want to maximize the technical downhill (and save the fire roads for uphill).
Description
From Salt Rock Gap, get your heart rate going out the gates with a one-mile climb up
Blackrock Trail #447. At the top, your efforts will be rewarded with a fun one-mile downhill. Turn right on
Powerline Road Trail #451. After reaching the top of the ridge around mile four, get ready for about a mile of more technical downhill starting with larger rocks and eventually leading to the second section containing small streams and washed out/drainage areas.
Near the end of the downhill, turn right on
North Road Trail #453. While this is a relatively flat, easier section, a few rock gardens and washed out areas will prove challenging if not paying attention.
Turn right on
Panthertown Valley Trail #474 - West for a one-mile fire road climb back to Salt Rock Gap.
