“Mostly flat, grass trail with several large waterfalls.
”
Family Friendly
Passes State Park, several nice waterfalls along route.
No parking at access points mid trip, except at Pixley Falls.
Description
Trailhead comes up on you quick if traveling from south via RT46. Parking for 7-8 cars with decent bathroom at south end. Northern end starts in the rear of Stewart's parking in Boonville, near Erwin Park. You can find parking on the north end in the nearby town park.
Trail follows an old canal/creek with several historical markers and with many old canal locks en-route. There is also a historical bridge near the northern end. The trail is mostly flat, slowly gaining elevation as you approach Boonville with some small hills where the locks are.
It passes directly through Pixley Falls State Park, where there are further (foot) trails with many picturesque waterfalls. I would not recommend bikes in there as the trails are fairly narrow and fairly popular. Access may be restricted due to COVID.
Path is a simple grassy path with gravel in some places.
Stay off the water control bridge, landowner is very territorial!
