Need to Know
Gets a little gnarly before the top. Both directions. You might find yourself doing a little "hike-a-bike" as you approach the top as well as when you start your descent. Both directions, depending on skill level. I recommend hitting it from both directions. Reverse might be a little more fun, descent is longer, but it doesn't start out quite as steep.
Description
I only rated it 3 stars but it's a cool little trail, nothing wrong with it per se, just a little short is all. It's a short cut between the south/east segment of
Cat Peaks and south/east segment of
Blevins.
But here is the thing, to do so, it goes up and over south Cat Peak, whereas
Cat Peaks goes around both, so it is actually a little more difficult than
Cat Peaks because as you ascend up south Cat Peak it gets steep and rocky...That is why the "intermediate/difficult," because it is literally "intermediate," like
Cat Peaks then a little bit "difficult," and then "intermediate" again.
When traveling east to west, the "difficult" part is longer and rockier, with a bit of loose rock, on the ascent, shorter and steeper, with what one might consider a couple of small "drops" even, as you begin the descent.
