Description
Sallee Key begins climbing away from the ranch road rather pleasantly. The trail switchbacks up the hill at moderate grades, with a few steeper, more challenging switchbacks sprinkled in. The trail only splits once towards the top of the climb. Both forks rejoin each other and continue climbing.
The left fork makes two tight switchbacks to avoid a more technical, rocky section that is accessed by continuing straight. Consider taking the straight option if you would like to stop and take a break at the rocky outcropping and enjoy the view, or take the left fork if you plan on continuing your climb.
Reach the obvious top of the climb and start a fun, flowy descent to the Highland Area Hub 1. From Hub 1, you'll have many options. Hub 1 trail intersections include
Sallee Key Flow,
Uncle Joey's,
Alpha Beta and
Tuck and Roll. Review these various trail descriptions to plan your next move.
Sallee Key is a bi-directional trail and can be descended back to the ranch road and ultimately back to the Colorow Area. If descending, please remember that uphill riders have the right of way.
