Open to the public year round!
Overview
Diamond in the rough trail system. Can be either a small 4.5-mile short loop, a 9+ mile big loop, or a combination for those looking to get in 20+ miles. Combination of mostly singletrack with a few two-track shortcuts if desired. Approximately 1,300' of vert.
Need to Know
The area is open to the public but there is an off-limits area to the north, designated by white signs that say "no public access" but no fence. This area to the north is part of the Hanford Reach Nature Preserve and the Arid Lands Ecological Reserve...please stay out of this area.
To the south (top of the ridgeline) is a fence delineating the private property. Please don't jump fences.
Description
From Hwy 225, the Rattlesnake Trailhead is located south of, and adjacent to, the Rattlesnake Mountain Shooting Facility. The parking lot is large and hard to miss on the west side of the road.
Multiple trail options greet hikers, bikers, and horseback riders in this system. A map is available through Runnersofthesage.com.
Optimal route (IMO) is to ascend the
South Canyon Trail and descend the north
Red Rock Ravine canyon. Both directions are fun, but clockwise will give you the faster downhill (for MTB'ers).
