Need to Know
The trail may be covered in snow in winter. As this is in a subalpine zone, be prepared for cold weather at any time.
Description
Ride up the Craigieburn Skifield road to where the trail starts right at the bottom of the ski lift. If you are comfortable with an exposed, narrow trail with steep drop-offs this trail is not technically difficult, but because of the exposure it is usually given an expert rating.
After dipping across a small creek, the trail crosses the first shingle slide before entering a patch of mountain beech forest. The trail continues to traverse the steep side slope alternating between stretches of beech forest and shingle slides. There are one or two short steeper sections of loose shingle that may have some riders walking.
After meeting the Helicopter Hill track, the trail climbs with some short steeper pinches through more beech forest and clearings of tussock and dracophyllum shrubs to Lyndon Saddle.
From Lyndon Saddle, there is a fun descent on
The Luge track to the Broken River Skifield road.
