Description

This trail works well in either direction and is usually used to make loop options with Kerns Turns and Shannon Ridge. In the winter, this trail is also known as Wolf Tracks when the local cross country ski group grooms the area for skiing, and once groomed, it can be a blast on a fat bike.

The top and bottom thirds are relatively flat and could be rated easy, but the middle section has a steep climb and muddy section bringing the rating up to intermediate. From the bottom, follow the trail up. Initially, the trail will slowly climb on a pretty mellow grade.

At around the halfway point, there will be a short punchy climb onto an old road bed, trend right. Shortly after this, you'll enter a marshy section that will likely be on the wet and muddy side for a couple hundred yards until another short punch delivers you to an irrigation ditch with a sketchy bridge. Stay in the middle, the logs have a tendency to move.

After the ditch crossing, there is a sustained steep climb to another old road. Stay right on the road and relax; all the climbing is done.
