Need to Know
Uwharrie is a popular hunting location, make sure to wear bright colors during hunting season. There are no amenities or restrooms near this trail. The closest options for restrooms or amenities is Eldorado Output on Hwy 109.
Description
The trails in this part of Uwharrie are open to bikes, hiking, and horses, but based on the condition of the trail, horses seem to use it the most. The trail is minimally maintained compared to the more popular
Supertree and
Keyauwee Trail to the south, so expect more blowdowns, rugged uphills, and if the trail is wet, there are many sections of "horse track soup".
The trail also has a few particularly technical rocky sections, which will either be really fun for those who like rocks, or daunting for newer riders. The trail has two places where you can split off towards Big Rock Loop, which give some interesting rock formations to explore or scramble around on.
This trail can be linked to Leslie and Todd Trails to make a loop that is around 6-7 miles. Although the trails in Uwharrie never close for rain, there are sections that become almost unridable when the trail is wet, so it will be much more enjoyable to ride when dry.
