Overview
Need to Know
Definitely can get crowded on weekends with hikers and bikers.
Description
Starting from the parking lot, climb up the
Red Rocks Trail and stay on this for about a mile until it drops off to the right. Head down for a fun, quick descent, and then a short climb back up the other side. Stay straight at the first junction and head towards
Cherry Gulch Trail, then take a 180-degree turn to begin the climb up
Morrison Slide Trail.
The climb is pretty steady with some rock features that make this a challenging, technical climb; definitely the hardest trail in the park. A fit, experienced rider can clean this section bottom to top, most riders will need to dismount once or twice to make it up.
After reaching the top, cruise along for a bit until the descent on the south side of the trail and let it rip! There are some great rock features on the descent that have been built up over the years and a few extra challenging lines. At the bottom, stay straight and navigate a tricky rock face to find yourself back on the
Red Rocks Trail.
Come back around the lower side of the mountain and once again stay straight/left at the junction to head into the
Cherry Gulch Trail for a short stretch before emerging once again onto the
Red Rocks Trail for the final stretch back to the trailhead.
A nice, quick after-work ride that has good climbs, fast descents, and a good mix of technical riding.
