Overview

Check your tide chart and tire pressure. The beach can be a real issue if you attempt this at the wrong time.

Need to Know

High tide can come all the way into the dunes and make your ride really rough. Fat tire bikes are best suited for this ride but not required.

Description

Start and end at the west end of Pacific Way in Gearhard, OR. Ride the wet sand 15 miles to the jetty being sure to stop for a picture at an old shipwreck.

At the jetty, simply pop up over the bluff to find a trail to Jetty Road. Go south two miles to a beach access parking area where you'll take Kestrel Dune Trail and DeLaura Beach Trail to the military base and DeLaura Beach Road. Go east to Ridge Road and take it to Highway 101. Cross over and ride Perkins Lane just to Railroad Road and go south again.

Just 0.5 miles down, take the underpass and Fort-to-Sea Trail. Wind around following fencelines and property lines, eventually crossing Bellevue Lane and ending at Sunset Beach Road. Hop over to Lewis Road and keep going south as the road becomes Pinehurst Road and ends at Highland Lane.

Go west to the beach access parking lot and take the Dunes Trail south to 13th Street. East to Marion Ave and south to 10th Street. Go two short blocks to Neacoxie Blvd. and go south again to Pacific Way.

Great starting spot and beach riding! Route back is very difficult to follow, locked gates, uses private land and illegal trails. Ride beach only. 15mi — 3h 00m
