Description

Deep Gulch starts out looking like another fire trail; however, after passing piles of old mining rocks, the path narrows and heads downhill in mostly a singletrack. I would recommend this only for downhill. It is possible to go up it; however, that would be a waste and interfere with others going downhill - besides the fire trails provide an easy path up.

The path was a little overgrown and looked almost abandoned - I'm not sure why, because it is an awesome trail. My best guess is that the trail spits out to the west of the overflow parking lot. I doubt many hikers go up it since it is ~100 yards away from the main entrance. Hikers probably also double back after the trail narrows and it looks like it may go somewhere else (which it does). It is on the Almaden Quicksilver Map, and is on Alltrails and other hiking guides so beware of hikers!

FYI there is a second biking trail from the end of the Hidalgo Cemetery Trail that empties into Deep Gulch Trail. I have not mapped that yet, but it looks like it might be fun to try for someone with experience.
