Overview

This route is the best way to link together the best singletrack near the Ryerson Middle School Parking lot. Loop hits sections of the Ringwood-Ramapo Trail (Red Blaze), Double 'S' Trail, Six Bridges Trail, Cat's Nest / Renegade, Pierson Ridge Trail, Poison Ivy (White Blazes), Crossover Trail (White Blazes), and the Warm Puppy Rock viewpoint.

Description

Park at Ryerson Middle School. The trailhead is behind the fence along the south end of the parking lot.

Stay right at the first intersection to begin a steep climb, hooking up with the Ringwood-Ramapo Trail (Red Blaze). At the top of the hill, go straight across the fire road to ride Double 'S' Trail. After reaching the Double S viewpoint, continue downhill across the fire road ('Dollar Hill') to the start of Six Bridges Trail. After completing the Six Bridges trail clockwise, exit the loop at the top of the hill and make a left at the fire road and then quick right to hit Cat's Nest / Renegade going downhill.

At the end of Cat's Nest, turn right for a brief climb up Ice Pond Rd (fire road). After the J turn, keep left to catch a short section of singletrack on the Five Ponds Loop, then continue up the Pierson Ridge Road to the top of the ridge.

Continue past the intersection with white and make a sharp right onto the Pierson Ridge Trail (blue blazes). When the blue blazes end, turn right to join the Crossover Trail (white blazes). Stay on white for a long downhill ride featuring the best singletrack in the area, such as the Poison Ivy (white blazes) section near Weyble Pond.

At the bottom of the hill, cross Skylands Road (fire road) and continue up Crossover Trail to the intersection with Defiance Road. Turn left (south) onto the Ringwood-Ramapo Trail (Red Blaze). Ride Ringwood-Ramapo Trail (Red Blaze) downhill back across Skylands Rd.

After crossing the rock bridge, turn left onto Ice Pond Rd and then turn right at the first opportunity to return to Ryerson Middle School Parking Lot.
