Description
If you are noticing that these loops all have names associated with deer, that is because the University of Arkansas Rich Mountain College's mascot is a Buck, but chances are good that you'll see some deer or at least their tracks in this area.
From the north side of the
Stag Loop, the rider can jump onto the Rack Loop. The Rack Loop is mostly flat but it holds a surprise. Unlike the other loops in this system, this loop has a nice little hill to climb, which we affectionately refer to as Bunker Hill. Many years ago, the local National Guard used to use this area for war games and sometimes some of their blank rounds can still be found. At the top of this hill, they had built a bunker and thus Bunker Hill. Unfortunately, the area where the bunker was located was turned into pasture land but when they did this, it opened up the forest for a great view of Rich Mountain, the second tallest mountain in the state.
After coming off of Bunker Hill, the trail returns to meandering through the woods on flat to rolling terrain until it once again meets up with the
Stag Loop near the point of departure. The Rack Loop is blazed in Yellow.
