Description

This loop is accessed using either the Yellow Loop or the Town Branch connector. From the Yellow Loop, you'll cross the Aboothlacoosta Creek on a skinny (18-24") bridge which dips down into the creek bed. The bridge is the most challenging feature of the trail. Just after that, there is another armored creek crossing but this too can be easily navigated.

This trail is mostly new (2020) singletrack although a few portions cross old roadbeds or horse trails which previously existed on this property. The trail is well-marked with blaze orange Carsonite posts.

You can carry a lot of speed on the trail if you so desire (but it is multidirectional and shared with hikers) and that will make it more challenging for advanced riders. There is a lot of pine straw (on the northern half) and leaf litter (on the southern half) just outside the center tread, so any deviation from the correct line at speed might lead to sudden loss of traction and a spectacular ejection from the bike.

The loop is also enjoyable for novices at a lower speed with gentle climbs and few sharp turns.
