Maintained by Sarasota County, this is a great place for a hike, walk or just general fun!
Can be muddy in the rainy season.
Need to Know
You can park at Myakkahatchee Creek Environmental Park, or just outside of the park. To access the trails, you'll have to ride outside of the park, and cross the new hike/bike/equestrian bridge that connects Myakkahatchee Creek Environmental Park to Carlton Ranch and the rest of the Carlton Complex.
Take a right turn off the bridge onto the South Power Line Trail (SPLT) (which is doubletrack gravel) for a quarter mile to find the entrance to each trail.
Description
Prosper, running along the eastern side of the slough, is slightly less technical (still of intermediate difficulty), and a somewhat faster ride with features similar to
Live Long.
You can ride (or hike) each of these trails out and back separately for a total of nearly eight miles of sweet singletrack. Or, for the more adventuresome, when water levels are suitably low (use your judgment!), the water crossing at the end of
Live Long can be ridden for a return via the Prosper trail, for a four-mile single loop ride.
Don't forget both trails have a returning loop now extending the trails to almost 12 miles, the return trails allow for big loops on either side of the Slough.
