Features Views

Mountain bikes and 4-wheel-drive vehicles are allowed in the park on the backcountry roads. In order to protect yourself and the surrounding ecosystem, mechanical travel is restricted to established roads. Tracks on open desert can remain for years and damages the desert ecosystem while tarnishing the experience for subsequent visitors. Off-road vehicles and all-terrain vehicles may not be used in the park.

Description

The dirt roads in Covington Flat provide access to a number of the park's largest Joshua trees, junipers, and pinyon pines.

From Lower Covington Flat Road, this dirt road heads west toward the junction with the California Riding and Hiking Trail and the Eureka Peak Road. This road is gradually uphill heading in the western direction.

Continue onto the Eureka Peak Road for access to the Eureka Peak Trail and the 5th tallest peak in the park, Eureka Peak.
