Description
Named after one of the historic cicada hatches, this trail is a ton of fun. Access this trail off of
Marauder Trail. This trail is best done counter clockwise.
Access from
Marauder Trail: you start the ride with some fun easy pedaling. Next up are two small but beautiful rock gardens and an interesting creek crossing. Stay left at the intersection with the
Moonshine Hollow Trail as you enter the Hemlock/Rhododendron Forest, expect some off-camber, rooty terrain.
Cross a heavily-used 4-wheeler path and continue through the Hemlock Grove. Take a left across the rock garden and stay left again. Cross another 4-wheeler path and continue to pedal. On your way to the top, you'll encounter some optional jumps and skinnies.
Once you have made it to the top, buckle your helmet and pedal hard cause it's all down hill from here. Three berms start the descent to this flowy section of trail. A small drop after the berms and then an optional gap jump is ahead, keep your speed and be ready to jump, jib your way down.
Your ride will end on
Corona Trail. Take a left on the rutted-out 4-wheeler path to bring you back to the trailhead.
