Description

The Catalyst Loop is the longest continuous loop in the trail system. It has more than three miles of steep terrain, rock rolls, and two low creek crossings over exposed sandstone.

The northern half of the loop is fast paced and largely downhill either way you choose to ride, with the southern half demanding a lot more from the legs and lungs. This is a purpose-built mountain bike trail with fast riding turns and rock rolls and features throughout the experience. Scenic views of the forest and creeks are well worth the ride or hike.

Scenic creek crossings are found at the midway points on both the west and east sides of the loop. Creek crossings may require you to cross moving water. Sandstone creek bed can be slippery; ride and cross with caution.

Trail is closed after rain events; do not attempt to cross the creek while it is flooding. Please be mindful of your trampling impacts and stick to the trail.

It's a well maintained trail, and I will likely come back to ride it again, but I can't say it left me as contempt as I was hoping for.
