Need to Know

Bathrooms are located at Cisco landing and Westwater put-in. Lots of camping options, but check out the Kokopelli Trail for that information.

Description

A short ride up the pavement takes you to a right hand turn onto the Kokopelli Trail. This is a dirt road all the way and has relatively clear markers the whole way with the Kokopelli symbol. Stay to the right of the railroad tracks, if you cross them, you're going the wrong way!

At mile 6.2, a right hand turn onto a slightly rutted doubletrack is once again marked, and will take you through more rolling hills to the hardest part at mile 9. A few steep and rocky uphills to a fun downhill with campsites on both sides comprise miles 10-13. The doubletrack winds in and out of washes next to the railroad tracks and meets up with the wastewater road for a casual spin to the put-in for your Westwater trip!

Of note: There are two gates to open and close on your way through. One was incredibly hard to see and one of our party crashed through it. Be careful if you see a fence leading up to the road that there is probably a gate!

Lots of beautiful scenery and long rolling hills, birds soaring, and minimal traffic make this a tough one to beat. Plus, you can get extra tan and fit on your river trip!
