Byxbee Park is an Open Space area, with spectacular views of the Baylands Nature Preserve. Includes earthworks and art installations. Limited parking and restrooms available.
Overview
This section of the SF
Bay Trail consists of a hill (former landfill, with elevation gain of approximately 60ft), with wide loose gravel and crushed oyster shell paths that cover the hill. There are six (or seven) paths to approach the top, three of which connect to other surrounding trails.
Need to Know
Parking, restrooms available (single occupancy during COVID-19). Connects to the
Bay Trail to Mountain View and Palo Alto.
Description
The terrain is mostly loose, consisting of small pebble sized to marble and slightly larger shell pieces and rocks. The loose terrain can be common on some of the tight turns, hence caution is urged.
The views from the top are fabulous. Clear views of the Bay, Palo Alto, Mountain View and surrounding areas. In addition to the paths, there are a few art installations on the hill, mostly on the North and East sides.
