Family Friendly ~3 miles of the route are on the Tar River Greenway. The remaining portion of the route uses street Bike Routes. Very lightly-traveled roads in Rocky Mount, NC. Route is mostly flat with no climbing

Overview

Nice views of the Tar River as you ride along the Greenway. Easy pit stops at Rocky Mount Mills that has breweries and food and you'll pass a new coffee shop in downtown Rocky Mount as you head back towards City Lake.

The smoke stack on Sunset Road is your landmark for the start and finish of the ride.

Need to Know

Plenty of parking at Sunset Park and the City Lake Park area. You can start at Rocky Mount Mills as well if you want to use that area as a start and end point.

Description

Take the Tar River Trail all the way to the end and then you'll head back to downtown Rocky Mount via city street Bike Routes and very lightly-traveled roads as there's not much car traffic in Rocky Mount to deal with. Streets are almost like Greenways given the light car traffic volume.
