Description
Named after local trail and MTB legend, Gary Miller, Miller High Life has a little bit of everything. The trail is directional and meant to be ridden clockwise from north to south. Starting from the second junction of the
Hogback Highway, Miller High Life begins with a gentle one-mile climb up through junipers and sage meadows, peeking out at the Rifle Arch and Grand Hogback formations several times. This trail has several photographable viewpoints.
As you top out at the base of the Hogback after some sandy switchbacks, you'll begin a mostly downhill traverse across the base known as Gary's Tip. The Tip brings you through several boulder fields and rock moves along some narrow squeezes. As you come off the tip, you begin to motor downhill along the rim through sage fields and ducking in and out of the junipers. This section is very twisty and fun. And, in true Rifle form, the sweet spot of the trail is very narrow. The shoulders tend to be soft so try to avoid being eaten by the sand monster!
After a long, twisting descent, you'll reach the final descent of
Watchtower trail.
