Overview
This is a popular loop that is fun to ride in either direction. This route uses the west side of the
Orange Loop Trail but both sides are great! Going either direction you'll start with a decent size climb that's mostly flowy with a few punchy sections. You'll encounter a descent and a climb at the head of the valley then a couple miles of rolling, downhill fun down the other side!
Need to Know
This is a great "bonus loop" to add on to your ride to stack up some miles. Combine this with the
Marietta Lunch Loop and the
North Marietta Tour for a 23.8 mile ride right from Historic Downtown Marietta!
Description
From the parking area you see a community building facing SR 821. The
Orange Loop Trail enters the woods to the right of the building climbing the hill behind the structure. A short way into the woods the trail splits to the left and the right (this is the loop). Turn left following the
Orange Loop Trail. You'll cross a gravel road then shortly after, pop on and off of it again. The trail stays to the left. From this point the climbing is mellow and rolling. Half way to the top the trail descends briefly followed by a handful of climbing switch backs to regain some elevation. From here, continue climbing to the ridge top where it crosses the
Green Trail. At this intersection, the
Red Trail is on your left. Turn left on
Green Trail then an immediate right onto the
Red Trail. Follow the
Red Trail along the ridge to the
Cyan Trail. Turn right onto the
Cyan Trail. This trail is mostly fast and downhill. There are a few sections that tend to stay wet so keep an eye out for that. At the bottom of the hill you'll intersect the
Blue Trail. Turn left onto the
Blue Trail. You'll climb a couple hundred feet and the
Lime Trail splits off to the right. Turn right onto
Lime Trail. From here you'll do a climb up the center spine of a drainage before reaching the Lime/Red
Connector on you left. You'll stay right continuing on the
Lime Trail for 1.9 miles of flowing fun! At the and of
Lime Trail it runs into
Red Trail. Turn right on the
Red Trail. It's all downhill from here. Follow the
Red Trail down a series of switchbacks. At the bottom of the singletrack, you come out by a small pond, stay left to head back out to the parking area. Enjoy!
Note: If using this route as an add-on to the
North Marietta Tour, use the
Pioneer Trail (Colegate DR to SR 821) connection down to SR 821 to connect the two routes.
