A complete loop connecting multiple trails at Buhl Park.
Parking is at the golf course.
You can access the loop either from behind the
Buhl Park Pump Track or following the gravel
Access Trail lane into the woods. Once there, take the first trail to the right: sign reads "Bike Trail" and "Trail Exit." Soon, take the Y to the left, this begins the
Advanced Trail 2 Downhill Track. Cross an overgrown rock garden then begin the gradual descent. Most of the next 0.25 miles are quick with little pedaling and only a few sharp turns. Lots of bumps, small jumps and other intermediate features.
After the tree/rock combination skinny, there are two one-foot high drops. Before the second drop, make a 180-degree turn right and try not to wash out. Climb up the hill on
Blue Trail. There are very few roots, and the climb is easy/moderate.
At approximately 0.2 miles, see the back of a sign at a T and turn sharp left down into the gully then follow the
Green Loop trail to the right out of the gully. This is the beginner loop. This loop has very few roots and only a few features. Riding in the counter-clockwise direction is best: the downhill turns are too sharp to enjoy if you ride it clockwise. Ride adjacent to hole 7, then begin the downhill section.
Keep left at the T, following the Bike Trail not the Trail Exit. Speed on for a while here, then after a sharp turn, climb the three-foot rock. More downhill, and round the corner, keep to the left at the unsigned Y (makeshift shortcut trail that is well-traveled). Make a left at the T. Continue more quick down hill and keep to the left again at the signed Y, staying on the Beginner Mountain Bike Trail. Begin the climb back out.
There are many S turns that make this section less than boring. When you are near the top, cross back from the
Green Loop to the
Blue Trail, again riding down the small gully and turn left as you ride out. Follow the trail between two tight trees and join
Advanced Trail Downhill Track again.
Turn right at the access lane and enter the
Advanced Trail 100 feet on the left. This is a fast section with many jumps from one-foot to four-foot high. Most are off camber, and all landings are flat. When you reach the creek, turn 180 degrees and follow
Climbing Trail back to the top.
