Description
This trail is a hidden gem. Has some fast sections and a few slow and technical sections. Also, there are a few wooden crossings. There are a few spots that have the potential for some sweet jumps. Essentially undisturbed by humans since 1903, Kyle Woods is a significant remnant of the original forests of Mahoning County. The 82-acre preserve was a gift to the Ohio Division of Natural Areas and Preserves in 1977 from Josephine Kyle in memory of her father, Judge Arthur Kyle.
Although primarily a beech-sugar maple community, Kyle Woods has a striking diversity of woody species and is more complex than most similar woodlots in northeastern Ohio. Tree species include cucumber magnolia, wild black cherry, black gum, and several species of oaks and ashes. The preserve also features several white oaks more than 300 years old. Enjoy the ride!
