An old road, now overgrown and off-limits for vehicles, that climbs steadily through a series of switchbacks to the summit of Mount Thompson. Adjacent trails are closed to mountain biking but this trail is an excellent, although long, climb. There are few obstacles usually - perhaps a fallen tree here or there - but watch for water bars on the descent...miss one at higher speeds and you'll regret it!
The summit area has a camping area, fire rings, picnic tables and benches as well as sweeping views of the valley over a vertical kilometer below.
