Family Friendly Very rural, and very little traffic on this stretch of road. As with any gravel route, the locals tend to drive fast and not slow down, but I was passed by only about one car every 15 -30 minutes.

Description

At end point, also recommend the paved road to Balsam Lake or go north on paved Alder Road to gravel climb on Cross Mountain Road.

Park at the surprisingly well-stocked country store in Lew Beach. They gave me permission when I asked. The road starts out paved, but becomes gravel in maybe two miles. The pavement has a lot of uneven repairs. The gravel section is in good condition, there are only a few short sections with loose rocks.
