Description

Beaver Ponds is one of the more popular stand-alone trails in the Thompson Park Area. The trail is varied and flowy with some short rocky and technical sections that will challenge intermediate riders. It starts at it's own trailhead on the side of Highway 2, and heads up the mountain though lodgepole and aspen forest to join Blacktail Ridge and the Continental Divide Trail (CDT). Between the two trail junctions the trail meanders around an open marshy area, which is possibly where the trail gets its name. A fun loop can be made using the CDT and Hwy 2, just be careful of fast traffic on the windy road.
