Need to Know
This is the only 'beginner' trail in the park, but fortunately it is also the longest by some margin.
Novice riders are able to experience the view from the summit before gently working their way back down to the bottom of the park and the lift station. If you are a new rider, be aware that the step up to the Intermediate level trails at Brian Head is quite significant.
Description
Color Flow is the only 'green/easy' trail at the Brian Head Bike Park, however, it is also the longest and an excellent way for more novice riders (or those who simply want an easy warm-up) to enjoy the park, and is perfect to help you get your bearings if visiting for the first time.
The trail surface is well groomed, and not especially steep in any portion...although the final series of switchbacks towards the lift station is slightly more rough and rocky.
The views from the top of the chair lift are impressive, and as the trail starts to unwind you'll get additional views to the east and south of the mountain. There is a short uphill pedal section after the first mile where you cross a meadow and re-gain some elevation before descending once again back into the middle of the park.
The middle portion of the trail levels out as it traverses the whole mountain, and provides plenty of options to connect a number of the more challenging trails into a longer top-to-bottom run - just be aware that some of the faster downhill trails do cross at marked trail junctions, so keep an eye out for other riders approaching from your right.
Towards the bottom of run, the trail intersects with the
Timberline DH trail, offering the opportunity to traverse the park again on Lower
Timberline and access some more technical terrain and man-made features closer to the lift/lodge.
note. If you are a novice rider looking to progress after your first run down Color Flow, my suggestion would be to ride the upper section again, before taking the alternative Lower
Timberline trail to Malicious Woods, before attempting to ride Little or
Lower Glitter, which have a significant increase in both steepness and rougher terrain.
