Description
The loop is described counterclockwise. If pedaling clockwise, watch out for a few turns exposed to steep drops near the western end of the loop.
From the trailhead on County Road 3A, roll past the right side of the trailhead sign. After a very short climb, it's a smooth and flowy descent through shady forest past a spur trail to RGRR to the junction with
One Track Mind. Turning left, there's a short, uncharacteristically technical section. The trail continues its shady descent - at one point paralleling an interesting rock rib where there are nice views out to the north and west.
Soon, the trail wraps around to the sunny side and starts to climb a few loose pitchy sections. Lots of broken white quartz and pink feldspar make the rolling interesting. Here, the slope is more open and falls off steeply below the trail in spots.
The loop finishes with a rolling traverse in and out of the trees. Toward the end, take the right fork to
Twisted Cistern, or take the left/straight fork back to the parking lot. All the junctions are well-signed. Have a blast!
