Need to Know
Access is from the Spence Springs Trailhead or the Iron Springs Trailhead. Parking is not allowed along Spence Springs Road at the bottom of the trail. Use the Javelina,
West Side Story, or
Noodle Trail to access.
Description
The trail is a former two-track road that is now a wide singletrack. It has fewer twists and turns than most trails in the area. It has a few sandy spots, rocky spots and rutted spots, but is mostly not difficult to ride.
Starting near the south end of the
West Side Story trail, the Waterline Trail descends to the Javelina Trail (here an old railroad grade), crossing the
Tatanka trail along the way. The only obstacles are eroded ruts in the old road bed. The brave can take it very fast. The less brave, like me, can ride the brakes a bit.
At the Javelina trail, the route jogs just a bit to the right and continues downhill. The trail crosses the
Sidekick trail a few times and then one side of the Noodle loop before terminating at the confusing junction of the Noodle,
Juniper Gate, and Waterline trails adjacent to Spence Springs Road.
Riding this uphill could be a lot of work.
