Need to Know

Unimproved, unsecured trailhead parking is available at the Hwy 83 crossing.

Description

White Creek Trail, starting at the Hwy 83 trailhead, which has unimproved parking, is wide-ish, mellow, and 1-2% down for about 0.4 miles or so, then gets steep (15-25%) before approaching White Creek. The White Creek crossing is sometimes rideable in drier months if you have good skills, but typically you'll need to dismount and walk across a small wooden footbridge.

The section from White Creek eastward to FS Road 1127 is twisty singletrack but with no really difficult features; however, the second small creek crossing (Owl Crap Crossing) is smooth rock and can be very slick sometimes.

White Creek Trail would be rated beginner but for the steep pull westward out of White Creek, the difficult White Creek crossing, a few tricky gullies, and the slick second tributary crossing.

Together with FS 1127, this trail allows routes which connect the Ocmulgee Trail system north of Hwy 83 with the great dirt roads in the Piedmont Wildlife Refuge to the south.
