Overview
A solid loop that is full of tight singletrack filled with rocks, roots, and some seriously steep TN chunkiness. A fair amount of blue, however, several sections are solid black (which can be walked if needed).
Need to Know
These trails are not going to fare well with beginners, it's a solid dark blue to black overall.
Description
You'll park at the small lot at the bottom of
Briar Creek Road (FS 188). Head up the gravel forest road for just about a mile before hopping on singletrack at the small clearing on your left (these trails are new to the NFS and no trail marking signs are in place as of yet, so use your phone and the
MTB Project mobile app to make sure you're headed the right way).
The start of
Church Trail is up and over a dirt hump along the right side of that clearing. For the most part,
Church Trail is a climb with a fairly gentle grade. A few flat and flowy sections wind your way up to the intersection of
Rustic Ridge and
Number One. Since
Number One takes you back to the road, you'll want to take the SHARP left on to
Rustic Ridge first (you'll see a green sign marking the trail in a tree, and the trail has a short climb from here).
Rustic is a fast and flowy ride along, you guessed it, the ridgeline of Buffalo Mountain. The trail continues to get more and more rugged with a few punchy climbs along the way. There are several rocky and steep descents, one right after the sign "Twist & Shout" in particular and the other right at the end of the trail.
The trail spits you out into a T intersection and you'll want to hang a left to bring you back to
Church Trail to climb once more to hit
Number One.
While
Number One starts off fast and bermy, it quickly turns into a loose, rocky creek bed before it finally spits you out on Dry Creek Road.
Your car is to the left which luckily is all downhill.
History & Background
These trails were opened in the spring of 2022.
