Description

Entrance is off of South Shore Drive. There's a gate blocking vehicle traffic. The trail is frequently used by dirt bikes.

The very beginning is steep and rocky. After 10 min, you'll hit another vehicle gate which marks the entrance to Donner State Memorial Park. Keep going straight and hang to right to stay below the train tracks. This stretch can have a lot of snow until June since it's the south side of mountain. There are a few bridges crossing streams.

Towards the end, there's another vehicle gate and the trail hits a wide gravel road. If you turn right and go for 10 min you hit a tunnel entrance and a beautiful view of Donner Lake. At this point, you can turn around and come back the way you came.
