Description
The Zipper Trail may look slightly intimidating in this uphill direction, but actually while the switchback turns are numerous, they are not overly tight and the gradient of the trail between each corner means this is a perfectly acceptable way to climb out of the canyon and connect to the trail network at higher elevation, which includes this junction with the
Dascombe Loop Trail.
Note: it is unclear whether this trail is considered two-way or not, but it is signposted at both ends, so do expect some downhill traffic if you're climbing, and vice versa.
The trail officially starts after a short climb up the forestry road (with a vehicle gate, which bikes can pass around) from Rock Creek Road at the base of the valley. It's worth noting that this trail offers an excellent option to extend your ride northwards if you've previously descended the
Hoot Trail which exits onto Rock Creek Road a few hundred yards to the south west.
