This trail is for winter use only when snow covered.
Overview
He-Nis-Ra is a small park, but this is a fun little loop that you can do laps on for some excellent training due to the good hills.
Description
Main parking can be found in the northeast corner of the park. The trails are well marked. Trailhead kiosk is located at the north end of the parking lot.
There have been changes to the trail system in the last couple years. The old trail system used red, blue, and green arrow to represent three small loops. The new trail system uses colors to designate activity type mostly during the winter months.
The City of Green Bay is now grooming a winter fat biking loop.
Biking trail is designated by orange arrows. The bike loop starts at the Trailhead kiosk. The trail enters and exits the woods a few feet from the kiosk.
In the winter months the orange loop enters a swampy area in the southwest corner of the park. Skiing loops in the park are desginated by green and purple arrows and are off limits when groomed with classic ski tracks.
In the summer months rider are encouraged to use the alternate route, the boardwalk trail that heads north, to avoid the swampy area in the southwest corner. All trails in the summer are multi use.
The city has been improving trails, maps, and signage every year so watch for changes at the kiosk. Some old colored arrows still exist in the park but only identify the old trail system.
