Trap Pond State Park entrance fees required during fee-season.
Description
Parking at the Nature Center lot, the trail begins along the open end of Trap Pond as a flat, crush-and-run doubletrack. Heading northwest, you'll crossover the spillway and a small bridge to the boat ramp area of the park. The trail then narrows to (sometimes pine needle covered) singletrack crush-and-run.
It gets pretty curvy (fun) so pay attention to speed and other trail users. Through the dense American Holly forest, you'll eventually arrive at Wooten Road. Follow the road across the Racoon Pond spillway to rejoin the crush-and-run, now doubletrack trail. The west side of the pond is much straighter with some slight incline/decline (note there are no real hills anywhere in the park).
There are several stops along the west side where you can get amazing views of Trap Pond and the characteristic Bald Cypress trees (and their "knees"). The trail returns back to the Nature Center. Several great, shorter trails branch off from the Bob Trail.
