Need to Know

This is rugged backcountry riding where absolutely no thought was given to mountain biking when these trails were established.

Description

This is a rugged backcountry experience that acts as a connection between Allie Canyon and Woodhaul. It's easier to access this trail by riding up Allie Canyon until you arrive at a trail junction. Cross the creek and locate the trail sign that marks the beginning of this trail.

You'll immediately be greeted by a short but exceptionally steep hike-a-bike section up a ridge line. You'll top off on the ridge then drop off the other side into a couple miles of remote, rolling singletrack. The backcountry horsemen cleared this trail of deadfall and added some markings near the end of 2022, but this section can be difficult to follow as the trail can fade in and out. Confident navigational prowess is needed here, particularly during monsoon season where the moisture can cause significant growth of brush and grass.

Eventually. You'll be greeted by another rugged climbing section that eventually allows you to connect into Woodhaul. From the connection, either direction on Woodhaul is a rough ride, but having a shuttle in the Fort Bayard area would allow you to connect into and enjoy the fast, flowing trails of Arenas Valley, as opposed to grinding up Woodhaul.
