Overview
Riding from Avalanche Sports to the bike path and out the north end of town to some mellow singletrack trails. A loop on
River Trail, the smoothest, flattest trail in town. It's still fun though, being narrow and twisty right along the edge of the river. On the way back up the bike path to town there's the option to go out and back on
Lower Flume Trail, the next easiest trail near town that doesn't require a climb out of the valley to access it. It has more rocks and up & downs but is still fun and manageable for a beginner.
Description
Ride down Main St to stoplight in middle of town, where you'll go left, then right onto the bike path. Continue on bike path past rec center, across road, then just before the bike path crosses a bridge over the river the
River Trail starts on the left.
Ride that singletrack to its end at a road, go right over the bridge, then right on the bike path back toward town. After a couple hundred yards, as the bike path gets close to the river, the
River Trail starts again on the right. The trail follows the river bank until it joins the bike path (go right) at the same bridge where it started. Ride the bike path back toward town.
If you want more singletrack, after passing the rec center look for a bridge on the left that brings you up to the stop light. Cross the highway, go up the bike path, after a couple hundred yards look for
Lower Flume Trail on the left. Continue on the trail, crossing a road. It joins the next road for 100 yards, then goes right into the woods, crosses a road, then ends at the next road. Turn around and ride the trail back. Go back down the bike path, across the highway at the light, and left up the bike path to town.
