2023 trail maintenance is nearly complete. Adding rock to a few ditch crossings. One portion, about 10%, yet to be completed and is overgrown but passable. Expect trails to be closed for a couple days after rain events. Check the website for closures.

Description

A short gravel road ride will complete this loop. There are other points of entry and a couple of forks onto other trails. Singletrack multi-use trail is open for MTB, hiking, equestrian, and cross-country skiing.

About 20 miles of other multi-use trails in the Whitebreast Unit-Stephens State Forest. (See here: iowadnr.gov/places-to-go/st…)

Primitive camping, vault toilets, and water hydrant available at the Stephens Forest Equestrian Campground or Lucas Unit Middle Area Campground.
