Need to Know

Trail is very loose in spots, best to ride in the early morning to avoid the mid-day heat. Many side routes you can link up to for an all-day adventure.

Description

The Mammoth Knolls Loops starts right out of the Shady Rest Campground Area. The trail features just a bit of singletrack at the start and then the rest of the ride is on Forest Service Roads and OHV routes. After about a half mile of singletrack, you get placed onto the first climb up a chunky & loose old road that climbs steeply up for a couple of miles. From here the route is a series of up and down sections that wind through the Jeffery Pine forest to the east of Mammoth Lakes. This first half of the ride offers up a few sections with some nice views of the forest. Once you cross over Sawmill Road and climb a bit the views open up for the next 4 miles.
