Features Views

You can start from the side of Hwy 159 but better to park at the Moenkopi trailhead for safety and security.

Overview

Easy access, quiet trails, amazing views, and challenging terrain. Ride this loop counterclockwise for maximum fun. There are several options to add more miles or even cut it short if needed.

Need to Know

The north end of this loop runs along Charleston Boulevard which gives easy access for mountain bikers, hikers and dog walkers. Depending on the day of the week, you can expect many more people on this north side of the loop. George Straight can be pretty sandy and washed out.

Description

Start out heading west toward Red Rock Conservation area where you'll have amazing views of Calico Basin, Juniper Peak and the Rainbow Mountain Wilderness. The junction with The Bronc trail is unmarked so be on the lookout for it. Once you get on the Bronc trail you'll have a short, exhausting climb to a great view point where you'll start a somewhat technical descent with south views to the Vegas strip and beyond. At the end of the Bronc you'll intersect with another unmarked trail where you'll keep right for even more fun but this intersection would be a good option to shorten the loop by staying left and starting back up toward the parking area.

All and all this is one of the best loops in the Las Vegas area where you'll rarely see anyone else out on these underutilized trails. Be on the lookout for the regions wild Burros, Desert Tortoise, Tarantula, lizards, etc. while being surrounded by Joshua Trees, Yucca, Prickly Pair and all other interesting desert life.
