Need to Know
Do not feed wild animals! Wild horses are commonly found in this area. Please keep wild animals wild by not approaching the horses. Keep a safe distance when taking pictures and always be aware of your surroundings. Horses were originally brought to the Americas by Europeans, but they have since found a place in the local eco-system. Be safe around wild animals.
Description
Getting There
From the intersection of HWY 260 and FR50 continue past Tall Timbers Park. Head South on FR 50 for 2.4 miles. The road will eventually curve to the right and begin heading northwest. The forest will change from junipers and pinyons to ponderosa pines. You've gone too far if the road has curved left or you've seen signs for 7th Heaven.
This is a great parking lot if you want to start your day at the top of the hill and save all the climbing for later or even shuttle from Tall Timbers Park. The parking area is on the southwest side of the road and the trailhead is on the northwest side of the road.
The Trail
Start heading northeast down the trail. Pedal through sand. Follow trail signs. The downhill eventually picks up and the bottom of the trail is the steepest downhill section. Finish by pedaling uphill to FR 50 and options to connect to Fence Line Trail and
Pine Loop. If you wish to connect to these trails turn left on FR 50.
Pine Loop will immediately be on your right before the cattle guard. and Fence Line Trail will be on your left after the cattle guard.
