Overview
Perfect shaded ride on hot summer days. A lot of climbing in 5 miles. You can do this ride clockwise or counter-clockwise but this route is clockwise.
Not a lot of parking at the Trailhead so best to get early AM or later in the evening.
Can be a busy trail, keep an eye out for a lot of bikers, hikers and pups
Description
Start at the
Short Stack Trailhead - Located at the end of Innsbruck Street in Summit Park.
The first 10 or so switchbacks are steep and can be brutal (in a good way). After about .5 miles, the trail starts to chill out, your heart rate will come down, and you can take in the beauty of this climb. The views are incredible! After 1.2 miles you'll reach the
Road to WOS/
Short Ribs junction. Veer left on
Short Ribs, after about 700 yards the trail will turn into
Road to WOS. The remaining mile climb is through the trees with a lot of shade and expansive view openings along the way. Most of the trail is dirt, not a lot of rocky or technical sections.
When you get to the top you'll see a bench next to a tree that makes a perfect spot to take a break. Going down is so fun, very flowy with lots of smooth rollers. Note - This is a bidirectional trail so be cautious of riders coming up.
Once you get back down to the
Road to WOS/
Short Ribs junction, stay straight to take
Short Stack back down to the trailhead. The switchbacks are a lot more fun on the way down!
