Need to Know
This is a great trail to make a big loop between Kuykendahl and Gosling Road.
Description
Generally an easy trail with a few intermediate features. Shortly after the start at George Mitchell Preserve, there are steep stairs to traverse a side stream crossing that requires dismounting, but otherwise one of the best sections of singletrack along Spring Creek.
There are a few small bridges over side creeks and one steep drop-in and climb-out that is subject to erosion. At the end of the trail, there is a bypass on the south side of the trail that follows the natural surface next to the creek - this is always deep mud, and the mapped route does not follow this.
The mapped route finishes riding the concrete surface underneath the Kuykendahl Road Bridge. This is probably the hardest section of the trail due to the steep side slope where it is possible to clip your high-side pedal. It is important to ride carefully up the grade to avoid the permanent drain slime on the lower surface, which can cause you to lose your front wheel.
The trail map ends with riding up the culvert to the paved bike path to cross Kuykendahl Road, where you can cross the bridge and connect into the
Spring Creek Nature Trail system.
