Overview
Backcountry feel, though most of it is a wide, mowed path. Ride a long the Thompson River, view of the historic Thompson House, ending with a fun descent!
Description
The trailhead is accessed from Dove Lane on the west side of Crowder State Park. After passing through the gate, turn right at the sign and follow a grass path. Soon you enter the trees and begin a long descent. Go straight past the sign marking the connector trail to the South Loop. You'll soon come to the river, and the wide trail meanders near the river for about a mile.
You'll know you are nearing Thompson House when you enter a mowed grass path bordered with bushes. When you reach the gravel doubletrack near the Thompson House, turn left and follow it up the hill which will also take you back to the parking lot. A little ways after the road levels off, take a right to exit the road to a grass path that leads past a graveyard and soon begin a fun descent back to where you started the gravel climb.
For a complete loop, the gravel climb can be omitted, and climb the singletrack instead of descending it. Or ride the loop in the opposite direction!
